STRUCTURE
Unprocessed tested steel plates to IS : 2062
Gr. A or B obtained directly from main steel producers and cut
to needed sizes, undergoes short blasting before these are given
a light coat of zinc-chromate primer on all sides. All weldings
are done with modern day welding machines by qualified and experienced
welders taking care of edge preparations, weld fit-ups etc. All
welds in tension are subject to radiography to ensure perfect
welds. Certain percentage of other welds are subjected to DPT
for detection of any welding cracks etc. An extensive training
techniques to avoid distortions, reduced stress concentrations
etc.
GEAR
BOXES
Gear
Boxes and couplings are the HEART of any crane are responsible
to a major extent for the performance reliability. The gear units
use HARDENED & PROFILE GROUND HELICAL GEARS in R 20 series running
silent oil bath and vibration free steel fabricated stress relieved
or graded cast iron housing. The gear unit have long life and
are almost maintenance free. All gears, pinions and gear boxes
conform to DIN-6/AGMA-12 tolerances.
The weight/power ratio is optimised by the use of case hardened
low carbon alloy steels of high strength (58-62 HRC). The gear
reduction efficiency obtained is as high as 99% per reduction.
Computer aided design based on Buckingham dynamic load equation
is adopted for pinions and gears for obtaining compact and robust
gear boxes with factor of safety> 1.25 both in wear and strength
of gears and pinions. The pinions are integral with shafts for
better strength characteristics ensuring life > 40,000 hrs.
COPLINGS
Our
flexible geared couplings meet the acceptance norms set forth
in IPSS : 1-01-005-86-specification followed by the Indian steel
industry. The couplings are known for the highest possible torque
transmission capability, greater mechanical flexibility and ease
of compensation for angular, parallel and axial misalignments
of connected shafts with minimum power loss. Gear hubs and outer
sleeves are manufactured from medium carbon steel. The teeth are
induction hardened to 42 HRC for obtaining longer life. The teeth
are generated by involute system having 30 degree pressure angle
to make a quantum break-through in coupling design and performance.
The coupling parts and gears are interchangeable.
END
CARRIAGES
The end carriages are of standarised wheel
bases in R-10 series. These are either bent U-shape or are of
welded construction. R-Block bearing Housings are welded to the
fabricated/bent end Carriages. The same is then machined on a
horizontal boring machine for accommodating the bearings. This
also ensures perfect alignments, parallelism and perpendicularity
of the wheels individually & in pairs. The construction of the
R-Block is such that it is very easy to attend to wheel maintenance/change.
Local lubrication pipes for greasing both the wheel bearings are
provided for one point lubrication. Rubber or spring buffers are
supplied according to requirements.
CRANE
WHEELS
The double flanged cylindrical wheels are
made from high strength chrome-molybdenum steel. Running surfaces
are hardened to 40 HRC. The wheels run on self aligning antifriction
roller bearings and have substantial flanges on either side of
the machined running face. The wheels are shrunk fit on to their
respective axles. The wheel units can be easily replaced because
of split housing design.
TRAVELLING
MACHINERY
Compact
modular traveling machinery unit consists of a hollow output shft
gear box to be mounted directly on the wheel axle thus eliminating
any chance of misalignment. These units are maintenance free and
are supplied with squirrel cage/slipring motors with disc/electro-
hydraulic thrustor brakes. Wheel axles are mfd. From low-carbon
alloy steels and duly hardened & ground.
PLANETARY
GEAR BOXES / MICRO - DRIVES
Depending upon customer needs the crane
can be equipped with micro-drives planetary gear boxes for obtaining
creep speeds (ration 10 :1 or 5 : 1) for hoisting, traveling and
traversing motions. The planetary units have favorable volume
to power ratio because of power sharing between gear meshes.
BRAKES
Electro-hydraulic
thrustor brakes, designed particularly for use with overhead traveling
cranes in hoisting. The robust designed thrustor unit is compact
& has long life and is easy to maintain. Main components used
are of high quality cast iron or steel. Full force capacity is
available from start to finish of full stroke. The thrustor is
operated by an integral three phase squirrel cage motor. In traveling
motions electro-magnetic disc brakes are mounted directly on motors.
DC brakes for hoisting and other motions can also be provided
for specific application on request.
MOTORS
The cranes are equipped with slipring or
squirrel cage crane duty motors specially designed to meet the
entire spectrum of crane duty applications. All these motors have
high pull out torque capabilities for achieving rapid acceleration
and are intended for frequent full load starts / stops and reversals.
Crane duty motors are one of the strategic components of the system
contributing immensely to the performance of cranes over a long
period.
CONTROLS
Pendent, cabin or Radio/Infrared Remote
operated cranes can be supplied in any mode or a combination of
modes. Adequate protection by way of single phasing, phase reversal,
overloads, embedded thermistors are some of the standard features.
Provision for Dynamic Braking and soft start can bemade. Cranes
with variable speed drives suitable for slipring / squirrel cage
motors for precise handling can also be supplied. (All components
used are of standard internationally reputed make). The steel-metal
housings are constructed to accept the power & control circuits
in a single cubicle having built in cable trench underneath. The
spacings and marking are as per IS specifications. The design
permits easy maintenance & protects the cables are being incorporated
for maximum reliablility and trouble free operations. Cabin Constructed
from Sheet-Metal the Cabin are suspended either on one side of
the crane or in the middle. These are either open type for indoor
use or closed types for out-door use. Air-conditioned cabins can
also be supplied. All cabins have a protective panel & controls
are ergonomically placed for maximum comfort to the operator.
Emergency switches are provided to meet with any emergency. Rope
System The drums are made out of seamless steel pipes or fabricated
from plates tested as per ASTM / IS standards. The drum is coupled
to the gear box via drum coupling that facilitates easy removal
and maintenance if needed. Wire rope is fixed with double slot
clamps. Non-rotating, high strength special Hyflex wire ropes
manufactured for use on hoisting equipment are used, with factor
of safety as per relevant IS standards.
HOOKS
AND SHEAVES
Hooks can be plain shank trapezoidal section
or ramshorn type. Sheaves are of malleable cast iron or of fabricated
construction mounted on antifriction bearings. However forged
/ rolled steel sheaves are also used against specific requirement.
